While many people celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday by posting sweet messages to their moms on social media, Idols judge Somizi had to defend his mother against a troll who spoke badly about her looks.

The Twitter user posted a photo of Somizi with his mother, veteran actress Mary Twala, saying he felt sorry for Somizi's husband, Mohale Motaung, if Somizi were to age like his mom.

In the now-deleted tweet, @Andrielmolobel3 said, “Imagine if Somizi would age like his mom, poor Mohale.”

This caught Somizi’s attention, who then responded by saying:

"Let me engage u...I am proudly gonna age like my mom.....happy and content....just wish yo mom reaches my mom's age ....and I used the word poor in a wrong sentence...... coz Mohale won't be...I hope it's not the case with u and yo gorgeous ageless mom.....u can now unfollow [sic].”

Many of Somizi’s fans, were quick to come to his defence, and felt the tweets was disrespectful.

Since deleting the post, the tweep has offered an apology to both Somizi and his mother, which Somizi accepted wholeheartedly.

“A public apology for the recent tweet I tweeted. To everyone who took offense and Somizi please find a place of forgiveness in your hearts, I regretfully apologize for the harm I have caused,” he wrote.

The media personality soon responded to the apology.

“Nana listen.....theres nothing I respect more than someone who takes accountability for their actions and owns up to their mistakes. No one is without mistakes.and that is why I will boldly accept yo apology coz I'd expect the same if I make a mistake. And I can tell its sincere [sic],” Somizi wrote.
