Cape Town - Local musician Thandiswa Mazwai is set to host a show at Newtown Music Factory and has themed it ‘fetish’.

Speaking to Move! the 43-year-old explained why she chose the not-so-common theme, and what fans can expect from the show.

“I choose this theme because it denotes an obsession and it evokes another part of our psyche, a part that is in fact very creative,” she explained.

Thandiswa asked that everyone who attends, dresses in outfits that represent their “fetish”

“I cannot wait to see everyone’s outfits and find out what exactly their fetish is,” she said.

The award-winning artist said she loves theme parties and always looks forward to dressing up and being creative with outfits.

“I’ve had themed parties since I turned 40. I always had my parties with few people and now I want to share it with everyone. Last year’s theme was ‘Women only’. It focused only on women because I love what happens when women are alone,” she explained.

The vocalist also put a disclaimer for the event.

“People will dress up and express who they are. Those attending need to respect the views and expressions of others attending too. If you do not respect people’s views, then this is not for you. Don’t come!” she said sternly.

Thandiswa promised that the show is not going to be like any of her other shows.

“It is going to be different. I will be performing with rock band the BLK JKS and there will be some hot DJs performing too. We’re going to party the whole night long!” she exclaimed.

The show will be on Friday 26 April 2019.
