She had quite a tough upbringing. Instead of playing with Barbie dolls, her mom would take her to pubs and shebeens and she would see her having sex in exchange for beers. 

It scarred her for life. She now uses her childhood traumas to give hope to people who have been mistreated by family members and those who are living with HIV.

Niqita Pieterse (29) says when she was young, she was sexually violated by family members.
