He only speaks to his biological daughter on the phone when his baby mama allows him to. Mthobisi (38) has been paying child support of R3000 a month ever since he and his ex- fiancé parted ways five years ago.
“She tells me I am not allowed to see the child because of the stepfather,” says Mthobisi.
“I understand she is married and has moved on with her life, but I have every right to be a father in my child’s life, and I don’t disregard the hard work that the stepfather is doing either,” he says. “Why would another man not allow me to see my child?”
