It took years for 27-year-old Lerato Malefane to confidently share his story about surviving cancer.

It is a story that was told to him because he was only two when doctors discovered he had cancer around one of his eyes. But that wasn't the full story.

“When I was about 25, I found out from my grandmother that I wasn't supposed to live beyond five years. All I knew was it was skin cancer around the eye and it was stage two cancer, so they had to remove the eye,” he tells Drum.
