He allegedly relieved himself at the gate of a couples home.
When he was caught, he apologized.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa (NPA), the accused Asanda Mkoko (39) and Ayabulela Yolanda Buso (28) allegedly hit him with a broom and refused to accept his apology unless he ate the faeces.
It is alleged that they proceeded to force the boy to eat it and released him afterwards. The boy reported the incident to members of his community, which led to the arrest.
The accused appeared in the Queenstown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 9 June. They are facing charges of attempted murder, child abuse and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, the NPA said.
They will appear in court again on 15 June for bail applications. The NPA said they will oppose bail.
