The beginning of 2021 has been off to a heartbreaking start for the residents of Qumbu, a village in the Eastern Cape, after a teacher was bitten and killed by a cow. She was laid to rest on 2 January.
Zininzi Mthethandaba (53), a Grade 3 teacher at Ncothi Senior Primary School, was attacked by a cow that bit her leg when she was on her way home from town. She later died in the hospital.
The news of the incident has sent residents into a panic, as nothing of this nature has ever occurred in the village before.
