Eight days after taking her oath of office, Eastern Cape Health MEC Nomakhosazana Meth sits down with Drum to talk about the mammoth task that lies ahead.

It's a department that's battled with one scandal after another. From procuring scooters as ambulances to the dismissal of the previous MEC Sandiswa Gomba for her alleged involvement in the R10m Mandela memorial fraud case, and the previous superintendent general Dr Tobile Mbengashe leaving the post under a cloud of controversy.

Nomakhosazana is no stranger to the hot seat as she has been mayor of OR Tambo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape, but she says the department of health is a different beast altogether.
