Preparation time: 10 min

Cooking time: 20 min

serves: 4-6

500 g (1 packet) penne pasta

20 ml (4 tsp) oil

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 small onion, sliced into rings

3 spring onions, thinly sliced

4-6 baby marrows, thinly sliced lengthwise

4 smoked Vienna sausages, sliced

15 ml (1 tbsp) cake flour

250 ml (1 cup) hot milk

chopped basil, to garnish (optional)

Cook the pasta according to the package instructions.

Drain and drizzle with a little oil to prevent it sticking together.

Set aside until needed.

Heat the oil and fry the garlic, onion and spring onions for 2 minutes or until soft and fragrant.

Add the sliced baby marrows and sausages and fry until lightly brown.

Sprinkle over the cake flour and stir to mix.

Remove from heat and gradually add the hot milk.

Return to heat and stir gently until the sauce has thickened and is done (this takes about 4 to 6 minutes).

Divide the warm pasta between the plates or serving bowls and serve with sauce drizzled over the pasta.

Sprinkle with fresh basil if desired and enjoy!
