Head pastor of Enlightened Christian Gathering, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is once again trending on social media for the wrong reasons.
In a recent video, the controversial pastor urged members of his church to not stop paying their tithes even though there is a global pandemic.
The pastor, who has an ongoing court case for charges of fraud against him and his wife Mary, can be seen calling on his congregants to deposit their tithes and offerings into the church’s account.

“If you are saying since it’s Sunday I cannot go without giving my offering, there is a church account that I am putting on the screen right now. And I want you to put your offering into the church account. Put your offering, put your seed, put your tithe, don’t hesitate. Don’t listen to the devil, don’t listen to what people say, don’t listen to what your mind says. Listen to what God says. Bring your tithe, give your tithe, give your offering, give your seed and God will bless you,” he says in the 27-second clip.
This clip was not well received on social media, with people saying now is not the time for the church to be asking people for money because the national lockdown has resulted in many people losing their incomes, or portions thereof.
