According to People , the Motivation hitmaker found herself being accused of bleaching her skin after sharing pictures of herself modeling her new eye-wear collection on her Instagram page where she can be seen wearing a blush pink two piece set as well as her sunglasses.

Taking to her Insta stories (which were captured by a fan) to address these allegations, Kelly said that the lighting in the room had made her to appear lighter.

“I just landed in L.A. and I saw that a lot of people are like, ‘Oh my god, she bleaches her skin!, Now, I never answer questions like this because I think it’s so stupid… but I am not the one to bleach my skin, nor do I want to bleach my skin, nor do I have to bleach my skin ,” she began before asking if people ever considered that it could have been the lighting.

“You ever thought it could be the lighting?” she continued.

Reports allege that Kelly has suffered with insecurities surrounding her skin colour in the past. In 2013, the star opened up about how Beyoncé's mom, Tina Knowles helped her appreciate her skin tone.

“I remember Tina Knowles, Bey’s mom and I remember being out in the sun and I was trying to shield myself from the sun and she said, ‘Are you crazy?’ She said ‘You are absolutely gorgeous’ and she just told me how beautiful I was and how rare chocolate is and how gorgeous the skin is, all of this stuff. And I was just like ‘Yeah!’ Like a light went off “ Kelly reportedly said.
