An American mother, Gabrielle Robertson, was arrested and charged with four counts of child abandonment after leaving her three-month-old twins, a toddler she was babysitting and her disabled seven-year-old son alone to go get a new hairstyle after the lockdown ended in her city, KHOU reports.
According to Metro UK, the police were called to her home in Texas and upon arrival, they found that the children had been left unattended for several hours. The police then contacted the 28-year-old to find out where she was and she took an hour to return.
Speaking to the publication, Constable Mark Herman said “it was confirmed that she was at her hair appointment and intentionally left her children alone”.
On 18 May, Texas governor Greg Abbott gradually lifted lockdown restrictions imposed to slow the spread of the coronavirus and allowed for the reopening of hair salons.
Gabrielle’s kids have seen been taken into protective custody by social services.
