The veteran television personality and fashion icon is back with a new offering on TV as the host of This Money Will Change My Life (DSTV 173).

The HONEY TV show features contestants from different backgrounds playing the long game to stand the chance of winning R25 000. Ngwekazi brings fresh energy to the pan-African lifestyle channel as viewers get to hear the stories of real people through his comedic and empathetic lens. Each contestant tells their story and proves to the audience why they deserve to win the final cash prize. Deliberations from a pre-selected jury and voting from the audience determines who wins. We sat down with Ngwekazi for a catch-up.

1. If you were to introduce yourself to the whole of Africa, how would you describe Siya?

He is proud to be African and he enjoys life. I love culture and creativity, I’m curious about new things and I’m dynamic, multitalented, multifaceted and multidimensional. I’m also a pretty amazing television host and all-around broadcaster.

2. This is a different type of show for you, what kind of energy do you think you bring?

People are competing for 25 000 bucks. The stories are sad so I try to bring lightheartedness to the ordeal of the people that don’t win but not robbing the winner of their moment. It challenged me in a way I wasn’t before. I was utterly amazed at how I could maintain a balance of seriousness, suspense and fun.

3. What has been the highlight of your career so far?

The fact that I am still here and kicking after 18 years in this treacherous industry.

4. Why do you think people should watch this show?

It has all the elements of a great show. A prize, contestants, drama and joy!

5. Your three current obsessions?

My current obsessions are Travis Scott shoes and merchandise, furniture and peace. Yes, peace.

6. Finish the sentence: If I could change one thing about our world, it would be...

7. What can we expect from Siya in five years' time?

I will be making clothes and furniture.
