The world is an extremely small place. Three years ago my wife and I attended a wedding, which was run by a pastor who managed to weave the vows of marriage with a profound humour that had the crowd in stitches. Little did we know at the time but the pastor was in fact the now Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane. Add how far has he come? Maimane is gifted in public speaking and the differences between the President and himself when on the stage are glaringly obvious. Maimane projects the messages clearly and really engages with the audience and yesterday delivered a speech that was of more interest to greater South Africa than the wedding that day. But the performance will stick around in the minds of the people for as long, if not longer. The DA called a motion of No Confidence in President Jacob Zuma following the Finance Ministry debacle in December, which the ruling party ultimately blocked with 225 MPs voting against it. But Maimane was still able to deliver his message, one which ultimately labels the biggest sell out in South Africa as the country’s number one, President Jacob Zuma. It’s a cracking speech.. – Stuart Lowman.

The motion we are about to debate in the House is crucial for South Africa. History will record the outcome, and all of us will be judged on how we voted.
