Cape Town - Sandringham farm in Stellenbosch set the scene for this year’s South African Cheese Festival, where Lancewood took top honours for the best stand in the commercial cheese category.

Over 30 000 cheese-lovers came to enjoy a weekend full of cheese, wine and other delicacies.

“People are always on the lookout for new lunchbox inspiration for their children, as well as themselves," said Viva Titus, brand manager at Lancewood.

According to Breyton Milford, operations manager at Agri Expo, organisers of the SA Cheese Festival, the stands were judged on design impact; information message and signage; presentation of merchandise and staff attitude, knowledge and appearance.

The SA Cheese Festival started in 2002 and has grown from humble beginnings to the biggest culinary outdoor event in Africa. The festival attracts more than 30 000 people over three days with over 200 exhibitors showcasing their products.

It is regarded as a platform to test new products amongst a captured consumer audience and improve a brand’s visibility. Some of these exhibitors are small cheese makers who successfully increase their market share by participating on this platform.

The SA Cheese Festival focuses on cheese and other related products and raises brand awareness and versatility of the various cheese products on the South African market.

Other cheese products and preserves that complement cheese as well as wine and gourmet food will be on offer.
