Cape Town - Africa’s tallest and most technologically advanced scissor lift was launched in Cape Town on Friday.

Manufactured in Amsterdam and designed by a 72-year-old jazz musician with a passion for mechanical design, the Holland HL 275-D27 Scissor Lift has a full working capacity of 27.5 metres and boasts a deck bigger than any comparable machine. It was brought to South Africa by Goscor Access Rental, a company which focuses on the rental of mobile elevated work platforms.

The biggest machine available in South Africa at the moment has a 5.55 metre by 2.5 metre deck measuring 7.55 metres by 2.50 metres when extended fully. “(The Holland lift) is capable of lifting a ton up to its full working weight of 27.5 metres,” said Nici Verster, general manager of Goscor Access Rental.
