New luxury hospitality group reinvents CT icon

Cape Town - The iconic Ritz hotel in Sea Point is undergoing refurbishment of R110m and the 220-bedroom property is set to be operational in in December.

The hotel was established in 1972 and features Cape Town’s only revolving restaurant. The Top of The Ritz offers 360 degree views of Sea Point, Lions Head and the Atlantic Ocean. The aim is to have the refurbished hotel fully operational by December 1 2016. Apart from the Top of the Ritz, it will boast a Switch Gym, exclusive residency and a new nightclub.

The newly-launched Shimmy Luxury Collection (SLC) of entrepreneur Nicky van der Walt has taken on a 20-year management contract for The Ritz. Van der Walt will personally manage the Ritz and his wife Leanne Liebenberg is involved in a creative advisery role.
