African petrochemicals producer Sasol says it will not drop Bain & Co. as a service provider, following calls in the UK and South Africa for the private sector to cut ties to the business consultancy.
A month ago, Sasol said it would study a decision by the UK Cabinet Office to bar the US consultancy from state contracts for three years due to its work at the SA Revenue Service (SARS).
Acting director-general of the National Treasury, Ismail Momoniat, has also called on SA companies to stop working with Bain, saying that in his view its work for tax agency amounted to "treason".
