SA you are not alone, even Eskom's headquarters are being load shed

A note sent to Eskom's staff reveals that the power utility's headquarters are not immune to load shedding either.

According to internal communications circulated among staff on Wednesday, Eskom's head offices at Megawatt Park (MWP) in Sunninghill, Sandton will also undergo load shedding.

The note reads: "Reminder that tomorrow morning MWP is scheduled for load shedding. Please ensure you implement your business contingency plans for the morning."

Eskom issued a statement on Wednesday evening that Stage 4 load shedding would be implemented from 09:00 to 23:00 on Thursday, Human Rights Day, due to a shortage of capacity.

Stage 4 allows for 4 000 MW to be load shed on a rotational basis, while still meeting 80% of electricity demand.

Earlier this week Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and senior officials at Eskom, including board chairperson Jabu Mabuza, held a press briefing to address the electricity crisis.

Gordhan could no say when load shedding would be over, but assured that a technical review task team and independent engineers were trying to get to the bottom of the problem, Fin24 reported.

Eskom has also previously said that the cyclone in Mozambique has impacted capacity, as the supply from the Cahora Bassa was lost.
