Sipho Pityana named co-chair of WEF's new Africa board

Business leader Sipho Pityana has been appointed co-chair of the World Economic Forum's new Africa Regional Stewardship Board.

Pityana – who is also president of BUSA – was in the Team South Africa delegation sent to Davos, Switzerland to participate in the annual forum.

The Africa Regional Stewardship Board consists of members of government from the continent, business leaders, and civil society representatives, among others.

The board has been tasked with delivering on the Africa Growth Platform, which was launched at the World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town in 2019.

Pityana was in 2019 appointed as co-chairperson of the 28th WEF on Africa. He was the only representative from Southern Africa on a panel of seven.
