There are three politically related questions to be answered before the South African economy can be fixed, in the view of Dawie Roodt, chief economist of the Efficient Group.

The first question is: "Who is actually in charge of the country?"

In the view of Roodt, President Cyril Ramaphosa has made some progress in consolidating the various factions, but there remains a lot of so-called in-fighting within the ruling party.
