Eskom released a power update on Sunday morning saying that it expected to suspend load shedding at 12:00 that afternoon, following improved generation system performance and low demand over the weekend.

"Uplanned breakdowns were at 9527 MW as at 10:42 while planned maintenance outages were at 6552 MW," the power update said.

On Saturday evening, Eskom said stage 1 rotational load shedding would continue "throughout the day" on Sunday.

On Saturday the power utility said that stage 1 power cuts would continue until 11 p.m, and restart at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning.
