Investec's Koseff scoops entrepreneur award

Johannesburg - Investec CEO Stephen Koseff won the Master Entrepreneur category of the Southern Africa Chapter of the EY World Entrepreneur Awards at a glittering ceremony in Melrose Arch on Wednesday night.

The awards celebrate 16 years of recognising entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence in their respective fields of work.

Hassen Adams, executive chairperson of Grand Parade Investments was named the winner in the Exceptional Entrepreneur category, and Rob Stokes, founder and CEO of Quirk was named the winner in the Emerging Entrepreneur category.

“Entrepreneurship is the cornerstone of any vibrant and growing economy,” said EY CEO for Africa Ajen Sita.

“EY supports entrepreneurship on our continent and the world because it is the only way to set countries on true economic sustainability and long term growth paths.”

The 2014 winners and finalists are our everyday heroes that change people’s lives, he said.

Stephen Koseff will fly the Southern African flag high alongside his West and Eastern African counterparts next year when he competes at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year event in Monte Carlo.

He will vie against country winners from an expected 50 nations.

The global programme celebrates the achievements of outstanding entrepreneurs and ensures that their contribution to their country’s economic and social progress is widely recognised and honoured.
