Bursaries for Master Builders

Cape Town - The Master Builders Association of the Western Cape, (MBAWC), a registered trade association for employers in the building industry, has been providing bursaries for tertiary education for the past 11 years and applications for the 2017 academic year are now open.

The bursaries will cover the annual tuition fee of various courses, from the second year onwards. They are available to family members and employees of MBAWC member companies wishing to pursue degree and diploma studies in construction and built-environment courses at all institutions of higher learning in the greater Cape Town metropole and Boland areas.

John Matthews, chair of the MBAWC’s Skills and Education Trust and President of MBAWC, says: “We feel that awarding these bursaries is our responsibility - not only to our members, their families and employees, but to the development of the country. The construction industry has the potential to generate a number of much-needed jobs, but requires skilled entrants to grow the industry and its ability to build South Africa.”

To apply, download and fill in an application form here and submit this, together with certified copies of your most recent academic records, toadele@mbawc.org.za. Applicants must be South African citizens, residing in the Cape Metropole, who have, at minimum completed their first year of study and achieved good academic results.

Bursaries are valid for one year, but are renewable subject to continued satisfactory academic progress and are not refundable to the Association upon graduation.

The closing date for submissions is Wednesday, 30 November 2016. Should your application be successful, you will be informed on or before 13 December 2016.
