Fast food: Business registered, now what?

A Fin24 user who has just registered a fast food business needs some guidance. He writes:

I have just registered my fast food business. I am in the process of preparing a business plan and going out to look for funds.

Please help me by giving me direction on where to go, what to start with, etc. This is my first business and I am investing all my time in making it work.

I do not have any financial background as I only have a BSc degree.

Thanks for your assistance.

Independent business consultant Anton Ressel responds:

You have not indicated the level of funding you are looking for (are you planning to open a kiosk or a fully-fledged fast food restaurant, for example?).

However, a good place to start would be to visit a website called www.investmentincentives.co.za, which has details on a host of funding options available to the budding entrepreneur.

Food is a tough industry, but it can be rewarding and offer good margins if properly rolled out.

You may also want to consider looking at a franchise as a start, as opposed to your own brand off the bat, because it gives you so much solid grounding and information from which to learn and apply in your own concept.

A website like www.whichfranchise.co.za is a good source of information.

Good luck!
