A Fin24 user wants to clear her name after being under debt review.
The problem I have is that I cannot get hold of the company or the person dealing with my accounts. I have contacted TransUnion and they have confirmed all my debt is paid and that I do not have any outstanding accounts. However, my bank still sees my name under debt review.
Neil Roets, CEO of debt counselling firm, Debt Rescue responds:
The best approach would be to contact the National Credit Regulator (NCR) for assistance. They will be able to inform you if your debt counsellor closed down and the files were transferred to another debt counsellor. In this case, you can approach the new debt counsellor to issue a clearance certificate and update your credit profile accordingly.
Alternatively, the NCR can assist you with the correct route to follow to facilitate the clearance of your name.
To speed up the process, it would be advisable to contact the credit providers listed on the debt review and obtain paid-up letters from them.
This would assist the NCR in providing you with the best solution to your predicament.
