It is necessary to enforce the rule of law for security personnel, says a Fin24 user in response to Mandi Smallhorne’s column You're not above the law, Mr Armed Response.
She writes: I agree with the points you are making. It is necessary to enforce the rule of law for security personnel in order that they do not become a law unto themselves like the taxi drivers.
My complaint with regard to security personnel breaking laws is:
• how at times they drive recklessly to get to homes where alarms have gone off, endangering all other road users
• how they sometimes park or stop in the road, obstructing traffic and sometimes potentially causing a road accident
• how when they aren’t rushing to a client’s house they often drive very slowly in the middle of the road making it very difficult for other road users to pass them
• how they have extremely bright lights on the top of the vehicles which blind on coming drivers at night
I have on a few occasions reported bad driving to the security company’s management. I've supplied the date, time and registration number.
Some companies respond positively but others are defensive, making excuses for their drivers.
