The retail pharmacy group, owned by the Saltzman family, has been on an acquisition spree over the past two years and will add a 25% ownership in health company Kaelo, to its growing list of assets. Dis-Chem is looking at the affordable healthcare market as an area of growth, following in the footsteps of other healthcare companies like Afrocentric and Life Healthcare who are offering services to employed, but medically uninsured people.
