Johannesburg - Absa says its internet banking services have been restored after it suffered a technical glitch on Friday morning, but customers are still complaining about difficulties accessing the bank's online offerings.
“Absa confirms that the digital banking channels (Absa Online, Mobile Banking and our App) that were temporarily unavailable this morning are now fully functional,” the bank told Fin24 on Friday morning.
“We would like to extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the bank noted.
The nature of the problem, though, was not disclosed.
The Absa outage on Friday comes amid a series of other bank glitches in South Africa this year.
In September, Standard Bank experienced a technical glitch that knocked out its ATM services, internet banking and debit and credit card function across South Africa.
Meanwhile, First National Bank has also suffered several technical hiccups this year as customers complained about the likes of double transactions.
Despite Absa saying that its outage on Friday morning has been resolved, customers have still taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure. Several customers have also complained that the bank's online services are still not working properly.
