Cape Town – The local Orange online store is attempting to disrupt the South African market with the launch of new iPhones at marginally lower costs.
On Monday, the company announced the availability of the iPhone 6s, sticking to its promise to expand beyond refurbished devices before Christmas.
Pricing for the iPhone 6s on Orange starts at R11 695 for the 16GB version up to R13 495 for the 64GB device.
That compares with the iStore price of R11 799 for the 16GB 6s, and R13 599 for the 64GB version.
Those deals are cash whereas a Cell C Epic 150 contract for the 16GB iPhone 6s costs R449 per month or R10 776, cheaper than rivals Vodacom (R550 per month) and MTN (R489).
"We've had a really large demand with people saying: 'When are you getting the iPhone 6; iPhone 6 Plus?' It's something we're keen to offer to our customer base," Blake Levitan, Orange Horizons South Africa country manager told Fin24 recently about plans to range the Apple products.
