Sugar producer Tongaat Hulett has reappointed Deloitte to audit its financials for another year but the company has promised it will hold the firm accountable for signing off on the company's misstated financials but it needs to get its house in order first.

"It is very important to note with the various corporate actions on the go and intended debt reduction plan that to have any change in that period will almost be to the detriment to the timing of those transactions," Tongaat CFO Rob Aitken said at the sugar producers' AGM on Monday.

Deloitte has been auditing Tongaat for 82 years and will do so for another year before new auditors, which the sugar producer is in the process of appointing, come in for 2022.
