Discovery is set to expand its car insurance to the UK around March or April this year, making it the first market outside of South Africa in which the insurer will have a fully fledged short-term insurance business.

Discovery has replicated all its other businesses - life, health and investments - in the UK under the Vitality UK brand, but it has not been offering car insurance in that market up until now. In partnership with a French insurance company, Covéa Insurance, Discovery will launch VitalityCar, tapping into a market that is substantially larger than the insured car market in South Africa.
