Standard Bank said its coal-fired power and thermal coal mining finance policies will ensure that future projects meet stricter emissions standards.

Standard Bank says projects that pose elevated climate risks, such as coal-fired power stations, coal thermal mining and oil and gas, made up less than 5% of its total loans and advances at the end of 2019.

And going forward, the bank had set stricter emissions standards for financing coal projects.
