The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies says it is yet to engage with the SABC on recent reports that it will proceed with the retrenchment of 600 staff members.

At a briefing before the portfolio committee on communications on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of the Communications and Digital Technologies Pinky Kekana said the department will secure an "urgent meeting" with the board for an update on the s189 process.
