Telkom
has taken issue with the recent invitation for the licencing of high-demand
spectrum to telecommunication companies by regulator the Independent
Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa), saying the duopoly of
dominant players Vodacom and MTN will be entrenched - and it is not going down
without a fight.
Arguing that it is the "only credible infrastructure competitor" to the two telecoms giants, its CEO, Sipho Maseko, said the group had sought legal advice and approached the competition authorities.
