Gupta ally Salim Essa bragged that Brian Molefe would run Eskom, inquiry hears

Salim Essa, an associate of the Gupta family, bragged that Brian Molefe would be appointed the new CEO of power utility Eskom - a year before Molefe's appointment to that position, according to a witness at the state capture inquiry. 

The judicial inquiry into allegations of state capture, chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, has since August 2018 been hearing evidence of alleged corruption and fraud at state-owned enterprises, with a key focus on Transnet, SAA and Eskom.
