Medshield Medical Scheme has announced a 5.9% contribution hike.

Medshield, the first medical aid to announce a contribution price hike, as the annual scheme increase period begins, say members can expect a 5.9% increase to their contributions for 2021.

However, the increase is higher than the contribution freeze or 3.9% recommended by the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS).

The CMS is a statutory body that provides regulatory supervision of private health financing through medical schemes.
