Freight services and banking group Grindrod credits strong commodities performance for giving its half-year performance a boost. But it is exploring other avenues going forward too, says its incoming group CEO.
Current Freight Services head Xolani Mbambo, who was appointed to succeed outgoing group chief executive Andrew Waller from 1 January 2023, said the company is exploring projects in agriculture and increasing its presence in Eastern Cape.
"We are exposed to commodities, and we watch that very carefully in terms of where they go. But going forward as a business, we're looking at other opportunities that will introduce dilution in terms of the commodity dependencies," Mbambo said.
