Rita-Rose Gagné has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Hammerson, the London and JSE-listed property developer.
She will take up her new role with Hammerson before the end of the year, the group said in an update to shareholders on Wednesday. David Atkins will continue to serve as CEO until such time.
Gagné is a former president of growth markets at the global real estate company Ivanhoé Cambridge, where she was responsible for $7.6 billion of real estate assets, said Hammerson.
According to Gagné, the retail and real estate sectors are going through a period of unprecedented change, which makes this a very exciting time to be joining Hammerson.
"I look forward to working with Hammerson’s experienced team and all its stakeholders to both navigate through the challenges but also seek out the opportunities to create value moving forward," she said in a statement.
In June this year the board announced that Robert Noel will succeed David Tyler as non-executive chair.
