A handwritten invoice for R376 million that then-Steinhoff supremo Markus Jooste presented to his finance chief in late 2016 is one of the pieces of evidence the SA Reserve Bank used to convince a court to sign off on an order to attach Jooste's assets.
The central bank this week swooped to attach cars, properties, art and more linked to former Steinhoff CEO, his wife Ingrid, his family trust and the historic Lanzerac wine estate outside Stellenbosch.
Steinhoff's former chairperson, Christo Wiese, described the Reserve Bank's "unexpected intervention" as the first "very hurtful move against Jooste".
