The FSCA says insurers are pushing exorbitant funeral cover premium increases. Some insurers have increased their clients' premiums more than once in a single year.

The insurance industry regulator has sounded alarm bells over high premium increases on funeral policies "throughout the industry".

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) said some insurers have allegedly increased premiums more than once in a 12-month period. Usually, insurers review their clients' policies once a year, on the day the person initially bought the cover.
