South Africa's current load shedding problem is a culmination of poor policy decisions of the past, says Eskom CEO André de Ruyter.

During a briefing on Tuesday, De Ruyter pointed out that past delays in the government's decision-making to procure new generation capacity timeously, as well as the power utility's own decisions not to sign power-purchase agreements with independent producers, had contributed to persistent load shedding.
