Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan told MPs on Wednesday that the future of Eskom CEO André de Ruyter and other top executives would be determined by the new board of directors, which will conduct a thorough review of their performance.

Asked in Parliament on Wednesday whether he still had faith in De Ruyter, Gordhan said:

Gordhan is under pressure from several Cabinet colleagues to axe De Ruyter as Eskom's performance continues to deteriorate under his leadership.
