In response to the build-up of a second wave of coronavirus infections in the country and ahead of the summer holiday season, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Monday evening that beaches in the Eastern Cape and along the Garden Route region of the Western Cape will be closed from 16 December to 3 January.
