There is currently a funding gap of R2.15 trillion to finance infrastructure. However, finance is not what is hampering the rollout of infrastructure, according to Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, head of Infrastructure South Africa (ISA).

Ramokgopa and Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Patricia de Lille on Wednesday held a briefing on the National Infrastructure Plan (NIP) 2050. The NIP is aligned to the National Development Plan and the work of the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission, the country's infrastructure investment plan and the National Spatial Development Framework, said de Lille.

It sets out targets and actions to achieve the overall vision for infrastructure development across water, energy, freight transport and digital communications.
