Auditor-General (AG) Tsakani Maluleke has again taken aim at state-owned enterprises (SOEs), saying most of them are in a "dire state," struggling to fulfil their mandates while consistently receiving poor audit outcomes.
Maluleke this week released the audit findings for the 2021/22 financial year for provincial and national departments, which includes SOEs.
Since being appointed two years ago, the AG has time and again warned of the poor financial state of public enterprises.
