Load shedding and insufficient electricity supply are a "roadblock" to the rollout of electric vehicles in South Africa and the rest of the sub-Saharan Africa region.

A new study shows the charging requirements for electric minibus taxis will burden the already constrained grid, warranting the need for additional renewable energy capacity and battery storage.
