Unions, business stand firm on TERS as tussle with UIF looms

After learning that the Department of Employment and Labour had no plans to extend the Unemployment Insurance Fund's Temporary Employer Employee Relief Scheme, business formations and organised labour maintain that the state still has options to keep it going.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions and Business for South Africa both released statements over the weekend and on Monday, decrying what they called a surprise move that the department would not be extending the scheme.
