Life Healthcare says chief executive emigrating to Australia, CFO to take over in acting role

Life Healthcare Group [JSE:LHC] on Friday morning that Dr Shrey Viranna would step down as the company’s CEO and as a board member with immediate effect.

"Dr Viranna is emigrating to Australia for personal and family reasons," the group said in an update to shareholders.

The company said its current chief financial officer, Pieter van der Westhuizen, would serve as acting group CEO, effective immediately, whilst retaining his position as CFO.

The chairman of the Life Health board, Mustaq Brey, said the company had the highest confidence in Van Der Westhuizen to lead in the role of acting group CEO.

"Pieter has vast experience of the industry and Life Healthcare and, having also previously acted as CEO, will provide immediate strategic, operational and leadership continuity for the business as we start the new year," said Brey.

"We appreciate that Shrey has made a very personal family decision and we respect that. Shrey has indicated that he would be available to assist us in future, if required," Brey said.
