European stocks slip at open

Europe's main stock markets retreated at the open of trading on Tuesday as caution prevailed ahead of a key monetary policy meeting by the ECB later this week.

London's blue-chip FTSE 100 index dropped 0.4%, while both the DAX 30 in Frankfurt and CAC 40 in Paris shed 0.2%.
